Mizzou president visits NGA, deepens resolve for academic partnership

University of Missouri System President Mun Choi and several university chancellors visited the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency in St. Louis, MO, the agency announced July 3.
The academic officials met with NGA leadership to learn more about the agency’s mission, the Next NGA West campus and discussed how the university can help the agency meet future workforce education needs. The university is currently in the second year of a $12 million, five-year contract with NGA to develop a data science education program that provides analytical training for the NGA workforce.
“As a member of the Missouri community, NGA sees tremendous value in strengthening partnerships with schools and universities across the state,” said NGA Director Robert Cardillo. “We look forward to continuing to provide a joint learning environment for our valued team members and Mizzou’s students.”
NGA and Mizzou will next prepare for a recruiting event in September. Details will be announced at a later date.
“We’ll use what we’ve learned here today about NGA’s mission and our existing relationships to develop an even stronger and more cohesive curriculum among the University of Missouri System,” said Choi.
