GDIT expands GitLab partnership

On September 5, General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics, announced that it has expanded its commercial partnership with GitLab through a new strategic collaboration agreement.

Under this two-year agreement, GDIT will leverage GitLab’s software development capabilities to help agencies accelerate their digital transformations. The agreement aligns with GDIT’s technology investment strategy launched last year, which outlined the expansion of partnerships with commercial technology companies as a key priority.

“The ability to innovate and accelerate the delivery of new capabilities is crucial for mission success,” said Ben Gianni, GDIT senior vice president and chief technology officer. “We are excited to build on our partnership with GitLab and combine our expertise to rapidly provide advanced and secure software solutions for our government customers.”

GDIT will enhance its Coral Software Factory Digital Accelerator by integrating GitLab’s AI-powered DevSecOps platform to improve automation and security of application development. GitLab security features enable developers to integrate security earlier in the software development lifecycle to reduce vulnerability risks. The companies’ advanced capabilities will further improve the security and speed of software deployment as agencies continue to modernize and migrate their data and applications to the cloud.

“The technical and mission expertise of GDIT combined with GitLab’s end-to-end DevSecOps platform addresses the unique challenges of delivering efficient and secure software,” said Bob Stevens, public sector vice president at GitLab. “We look forward to helping joint customers better collaborate, automate workflows, and cut costs by replacing multiple tools.”

Through this expanded partnership, GDIT will collaborate with GitLab to identify new use cases, design and build prototypes, and develop specialized training programs that align with agencies’ evolving needs.
