On June 17, General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics, announced new investments to enhance its emerging technology and commercial technology partnership programs.
“The demand for advanced technology solutions across the federal government has never been greater,” said Ben Gianni, GDIT senior vice president and chief technology officer. “As agencies prioritize technologies like artificial intelligence to drive efficiencies and optimize mission delivery, our continued investments in emerging technologies and commercial partnerships will bring faster, better and higher-value solutions to government.”
The upgraded emerging technology program will enable GDIT to identify, assess and integrate the next wave of disruptive technologies to propel government missions. Specifically, the company is focused on advancements in artificial intelligence, quantum, full-spectrum cyber, edge computing and advanced wireless technologies. Collaborating with emerging technology companies and startups, GDIT will rapidly develop mission solutions for a wide variety of critical applications, including intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), border security, contested logistics, disaster management and health diagnostics.
To lead this program, the company recently hired Geoffrey Williams as vice president of emerging technology. For more than 20 years, Williams has shaped the vision, strategy and execution of various digital transformation and analytics initiatives across private and government sectors. Previously, he worked 10 years at IBM focused on introducing innovative AI, analytics and emerging technologies to federal government customers. Prior to that, he served in various technical leadership roles in the U.S. Army.
In addition, GDIT has expanded its technology partnership portfolio of AI, cyber, software and cloud companies. In the last year alone, the company formed strategic collaboration agreements with AWS, IonQ, ServiceNow and GitLab, further enhancing its technology capabilities to drive digital transformations. Through these commercial partnerships, GDIT is swiftly co-developing solutions to accelerate innovation, deliver efficiencies and cost savings, and modernize agencies’ mission-critical systems. For instance, the company is currently working with IonQ to advance a major intelligence agency’s quantum readiness. The two companies are leveraging quantum and AI technologies to enhance the agency’s data processing and analysis capabilities.
To lead GDIT’s commercial partnership program, the company promoted Mathew Soltis to vice president of technology solutions and alliance partnerships. Soltis has more than 20 years of experience in the technology and cloud sector. Previously, he led GDIT’s cloud solutions Center of Excellence, including the development of Hive hybrid multi-cloud solution, one of the company’s nine Digital Accelerators built to rapidly advance government missions. Under his leadership, GDIT accelerated government adoption of more than 90 public sector cloud programs.
