DNI Coats comments on nomination of Isabel Patelunas

On June 14, Director of National Intelligence Daniel Coats issued a statement on President Trump’s intent to nominate Isabel Patelunas to be the assistant secretary of treasury for intelligence and analysis.

I am very pleased that the White House has announced the President’s intent to nominate Isabel as Assistant Secretary of Treasury for Intelligence and Analysis. Her deep knowledge of the Intelligence Community makes her the right choice to assume this vital role.

Isabel is an accomplished member of the Senior Intelligence Service at CIA where she has served since 1989. Her previous positions include serving as Deputy Director of CIA’s Office of Middle East and North Africa Analysis and as Director of the Advanced Analysis Training Program. She also has served in leadership positions in ODNI’s National Counterproliferation Center and CIA’s Weapons Intelligence, Nonproliferation and Arms Control Office, and most recently she led the President’s Daily Brief staff at ODNI. This breadth of experience and her natural leadership qualities have prepared Isabel for Treasury’s intelligence office.

Isabel’s nomination continues the IC’s tradition of providing seasoned officers to serve as Assistant Secretary of Treasury for Intelligence and Analysis.

Congratulations to Isabel on her selection, and I look forward to our continued partnership in her new position.

Daniel R. Coats, Director of National Intelligence
