DISA awards Fangorn OTA to World Wide Technology

On May 28, the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) announced that it has awarded World Wide Technology an Other Transaction Agreement for the Fangorn prototype.

Fangorn is poised to be a first-of-its-kind cloud platform engineered to modernize legacy mainframe systems for U.S. Warfighters — increasing efficiency, scalability and security. The new platform offers a low-risk modernization solution, integrating AI-based data management and analytics capabilities and saving the Defense Department from maintaining legacy applications using codebases like COBOL.

“Fangorn represents a paradigm shift in mainframe management. By combining the strengths of the mainframe with the agility of the cloud and the power of AI, Fangorn delivers a truly innovative platform that drives unprecedented levels of performance, scalability and efficiency,” said Justin Sollenberger, DISA J-9 Mainframe Line of Business division chief.

Fangorn will enhance efficiency for DISA’s customers by streamlining the management of separate mainframe systems and allow traditional mainframe applications to modernize at their own pace, offering a direct pathway for application owners to meet their strategic goals for cloud readiness.
