Deloitte Analytics debuts collaboration with Univ. of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce
Deloitte Analytics recently announced a collaborative agreement with the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce under which it will serve as an advisory board member for the school’s Center for Business Analytics.
During the three-year collaboration, Deloitte will help shape the direction of the recently launched center by providing industry insight on issues and opportunities related to the burgeoning analytics field.
As an advisory board member, Deloitte will work with faculty and students to help develop an experiential and collaborative learning program focused on business analytics. These efforts will include hosting an annual analytics-based case competition; providing applied resources, such as data, analytical tools, and technology; and supporting students through mentoring and career development activities.
“Our growing emphasis on the applied use of analytics in a business environment will be greatly enhanced by the active participation of Deloitte Analytics as an advisory board member,” said Ahmed Abbasi, director of the Center for Business Analytics and associate professor of information technology in the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia. “We are grateful for Deloitte’s interest in helping guide us as we strive to embed the art and science of analytics throughout our business curriculum and establish McIntire as a leader in business analytics education, research, and professional innovation.”
“To be well-prepared for the workforce, students need a broad understanding of the role business analytics plays in informing smart decision making,” said Eric Bristow, director, Deloitte Consulting LLP. “The McIntire School’s Center for Business Analytics is providing access to and advancement of the knowledge base around customer analytics. Deloitte is proud to be helping guide those efforts through our membership on its advisory board.”
