Army seeks industry input on RCO EW AI Challenge

On April 5, the U.S. Army posted a draft announcement for the upcoming Army RCO EW AI Challenge. Responses are due by 11:00 a.m. Eastern on April 19.

The Army is developing a means of better classifying signals of interest using Artificial Intelligence. Army soldiers are responsible for understanding a vast amount of information presented to them. Compounding the issue is the source and location information of, potentially, an infinite number of electronic signals through various sensing means, coordinating defensive and offensive operations to defend against electronic attack, and blunt the electronic means of the threat. Signals of interest sample data will be provided for AI training and testing purposes.

In order to incentivize participation in providing new ideas and promote innovation, the Army Rapid Capabilities Office (RCO) will be conducting an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Signal Classification challenge event. The Army RCO is in pursuit of innovative solutions for fighting in an increasingly defense electromagnetic environment against adversaries with well-developed electronic warfare (EW) capabilities.
This special notice is to synopsize a draft of the announcement for the event and request input from industry. The challenge event will be conducted via the challenge.gov website. The attached announcement is strictly a draft. The final announcement for the event will be published under the Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) W56JSR-18-S-0001.

The U.S Army Contracting Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground intends to release the announcement of the challenge event on or about April 26, 2019.
