U.S. Intelligence Community leaders converge at 2015 Intelligence & National Security Summit

To encourage strategic dialogue about the state of U.S. intelligence across public, private, academic and international sectors, several U.S. Intelligence Community (IC) leaders, including Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, will be participating in the Intelligence & National Security Summit September 9-10 in Washington, DC. AFCEA International and the Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA) are co-hosting this unclassified event at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

“This event provides a unique and powerful public forum about the priority issues facing the U.S. intelligence and national security communities. AFCEA International and INSA are proud to be the event hosts and to model the trusted partnership that is essential to U.S. national security,” stated Maureen Baginski, summit co-chair and chair emeritus, AFCEA Intelligence Committee.

Dozens of current and former leaders from government and the private sector are scheduled to take part in the summit, including:

• John Brennan, director, Central Intelligence Agency
• Robert Cardillo, director, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency
• Marcel Lettre, acting undersecretary of defense for intelligence
• Adm. Michael Rogers, USN, commander, U.S. Cyber Command; director, National Security Agency; and chief, Central Security Service
• Betty Sapp, director, National Reconnaissance Office
• Frank Taylor, undersecretary, Intelligence and Analysis, DHS
• Eric Velez-Villar, executive assistant director, Intelligence Branch, FBI
• Doug Wise, deputy director, Defense Intelligence Agency

Congressmen Devin Nunes (R-CA) and Adam Schiff (D-CA), chairman and ranking member of the U.S. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, respectively, will participate in one of five plenary sessions.

“There are few, if any, events at the unclassified level that cover the plans, priorities and partnerships of the U.S. Intelligence Community so thoroughly as this summit will in September. INSA is delighted to once again partner with AFCEA to provide an agenda that will foster dialogue between the public and private sectors on national security issues,” said Ambassador Joseph DeTrani, summit co-chair and INSA president.
