FLIR Defense taps John Bergeron as new global surveillance head
FLIR Defense, part of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated, announced on May 1 that it has named John Bergeron as new vice president of global services for its surveillance business. He will report to Dr. JihFen Lei, executive vice president and general manager of FLIR Defense, based in Billerica, MA. Bergeron will be responsible for managing and growing the company’s service business that provides maintenance and support for its wide range of advanced imaging sensors and systems used for air, land and maritime-based surveillance operations.
FLIR Defense operates five prime service centers for its military and public safety Surveillance customers worldwide – two in the United States (Billerica and Portland, OR), plus locations in West Malling, United Kingdom; Täby, Sweden; and Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The company also partners with expert local service providers at more than 30 regional service centers around the globe, close to customer bases and facilities.
Bergeron joins FLIR Defense with more than 20 years of experience leading large global teams at companies such as Raytheon and GE. Before joining FLIR Defense, he was Raytheon’s vice president of product support. His management background includes work with technology-intensive systems such as imaging sensors, radar, cameras, robots, and wireless communication. Bergeron also is a Six Sigma Blackbelt with proven success using metrics to drive continuous improvement by partnering across functions to identify synergies.
“John brings a solid understanding of the complex systems we build at FLIR Defense, their importance to our customers, and how to optimize resources across a globally integrated network of service centers,” said Dr. Lei. “With his appointment, we continue to strengthen our commitment to product and service quality and efficiency, so maintenance doesn’t get in the way of mission success.
“In leading our team, John will expand and enhance the ways we support those who rely on our products, both through local relationships and by leveraging the resources of a global company. We’re excited to welcome John to the Surveillance team,” Lei added.
