The U.S. Special Operations Command has issued an RFI to R&D organizations, private industry and academia to participate in an “experimentation event” that will take place at the Muscatuck Urban Training Center in Indiana on July 8-17, 2014 at which the candidates will demonstrate their emerging technologies.

“The environment facilitates a collaborative working relationship between Government, academia, and industry to promote the identification and assessment of emerging and mature technologies for the primary goal of accelerating the delivery of technology discoveries to the SOF warfighter,” says a notice published by the SOCOM procurement office on March 18.

Among the technology areas that will be examined will be Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance, including:

  • Identify, locate and counter enemy fire;
  • Full Motion Video, object of interest, indexing and retrieval;
  • Near-real-time detection of explosives;
  • Foliage penetration sensing devices;
  • Smart tags;
  • Laser vibrometry.

Interested parties have until April 17 to submit their technology nominations to participate in the upcoming event in Indiana, says the notice.
