Small biz will help USAF by finding and translating threat information on Web and elsewhere

Joint Base San AntonioU.S. Air Force has not yet announced any contract awards related to its solicitation for an 8(a) small business to support the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) by monitoring open source data and monitoring Web sites for information about possible threats to Air Force personnel or property.

The formal solicitation, which was issued by the Air Education and Training Command, required that proposals from interested small businesses be submitted by Feb. 28.

“The contractor shall conduct collection, translation, and analysis of open-source Internet information,” explains the USAF notice. “The contractor shall produce reports and intelligence products that identify and analyze threats to USAF personnel and resources worldwide from foreign governments, international terrorists, and unaffiliated actors (for example, hackers and subversive groups.)”

The support work will be performed SCIF facility at Joint Base San Antonio in Lackland, TX.

“Once potential threat information has been identified, the contractor shall analyze the validity of the threat,” the notice added.
