Octo Consulting Group appoints Tom Lee to lead National Security Business Unit

Octo Consulting Group (Octo) of Tysons Corner, VA announced on March 27 that it has named Tom Lee as a senior vice president leading the company’s National Security Business Unit. In this capacity, Tom will be leading Octo’s business development efforts and national security portfolio engagements which comprises of key IT programs for customers such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Department of State (State), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). He will report to Octo President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Robert McCord.

“We were immediately drawn to Tom’s background which gives him a unique lens at approaching engagements to ensure agency mission success,” said Mehul Sanghani, chief executive officer of Octo. “Tom and Octo understand that our national security customers seek solutions that are force multipliers for mission success, and that these solutions often play critical roles in protecting our nation.”

Tom brings almost 20 years of government IT experience to Octo. Prior to joining Octo, he was the vice president of national security with Acuity, where he managed large scale agile systems development programs for DHS, Treasury and State customers. Taking a nontraditional route to a career in government contracting, he started his career as a certified public accountant for PriceWaterhouseCoopers and BearingPoint before teaching himself how to write code and working on large scale government contracts.

In addition to being a certified public accountant, Tom is a certified scrum master, certified project management professional and ITIL v3f certified.
