NROL-47 is successfully launched

A National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) payload was successfully launched aboard a United Launch Alliance Delta IV rocket from Space Launch Complex-6, Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB), California, at 2:11 p.m. PST, on Jan. 12, 2018, NRO announced January 16.

“We are very happy to begin the new year with a successful launch,” said Colonel Matthew Skeen, USAF, Director, NRO Office of Space Launch. “As with every launch, our success is rooted in teamwork, and we would not be able to do what we do without our government and industry team members. We are grateful for their continued drive to get our critical assets on orbit and their commitment and dedication to our national security mission.”

NROL-47 is the first of two planned NRO launches for 2018.
