NGA posts Patagonia follow-up RFI

nga-1On October 20, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency posted a follow-up request for information for the Patagonia contract. All responses must be received by 12:00 noon ET on November 10.

NGA is soliciting ideas and input for the Patagonia contract that will follow the National System for Geospatial-lntelligence (NSG) Consolidated Library (NCL) contract. NCL standardized and modernized the NSG architecture supporting GEOINT data import, storage, discovery and dissemination of GEOINT information, products, and services. NCL established a centralized Net-Centric and Data-Centric NSG operational and systems framework, implementing Application Service Provider (ASP) & Infrastructure Service Provider (ISP) efficiencies. The NCL operates in a multiple security level environment to host imagery and products at the TS/SCI, SIC, and Unclassified levels. The Patagonia contract will continue to build on that foundation supporting NGA’s Content and Analytics Portfolio as the primary stakeholders.

Mission success within the Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DOD) is critically dependent on information sharing and the ability to manage, discover, retrieve, and access information across boundaries. NGA is moving to the IC Information Technology Enterprise (IC ITE) business model to share information using a common cloud based solution. IC ITE will allow IC agencies to rapidly scale to share information within a single enterprise information technology infrastructure.

NGA is aggressively pursuing cloud-based solutions for all of its programs. This has put into motion steps that will result in all library services and data residing in the cloud by the time Patagonia reaches Full Operational Capability (FOC).

The purpose of this RFI is to gain information on current industry practices that will meet NGA’s requirements for the next phase of National GEOINT Content Libraries’ cloud integration and evolution in 2018 and beyond.
