Leidos lands contract to support USSTRATCOM’s nuclear weapons program at Offutt AFB

 

U.S. Strategic CommandLeidos, Inc., of Reston, VA, formerly a portion of SAIC, was awarded on January 17 a USAF contract worth a maximum of $62.5 million, to provide mission planning and analysis support services for the nuclear weapons program overseen by the U.S. Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska.

Under what is now called the “Mission Planning and Analysis Common Services” (MPACS) contract, Leidos will help the USAF monitor changes in nuclear targeting, according to a synopsis issued by the Air Force. “In addition, weapon assignments are monitored to ensure compliance with guidance and damage goals,” said the notice.

Leidos will be involved in supporting two software products for USSTRATCOM: the Advanced Windows Planning System (AWPS), which provides plan review, analysis and maintenance capabilities; and the Defensive Data Validation Toolkit (DDVT), which “provides an accounting of changing weapons systems and threat capabilities in an adaptive planning environment,” explains an unclassified Power Point presentation prepared by the Air Force.

“This project is classified up to Top Secret,” the synopsis continues. “Individuals may require access to Nuclear Command and Control — Extremely Sensitive Information (NC2-ESI), says the document, which was released by the Air Combat Command.
