IARPA releases BAA for the MATERIAL program

IARPA provides the U.S. Intelligence Community with capabilities to tackle its toughest technical challenges. Broad Agency Announcements solicit research proposals for specific programs. IARPA recently released the Machine Translation for English Retrieval of Information in Any Language (MATERIAL)

BAA. The goal of the MATERIAL program is to develop an “English-in, English-out” information retrieval system that, given a domain-sensitive English query, will retrieve relevant data from a large multilingual repository and display the retrieved information in English as query-biased summaries. Proposals are due March 20, 2017.

IARPA conducts prize challenges to invite the broader research community of industry and academia to participate in a convenient, efficient, and non-contractual competition. This month, IARPA prize challenges were covered by The White House Blog and FCW.

IARPA also provides an opportunity to submit proposals not aligned with current programs, based on new ideas from the research community.
