DSI to hold GEOINT and Open Source Analytics Summit

The geospatial intelligence community workforce is growing at an ever-increasing rate. The value of the work being performed by the GEOINT community is developing parallel to the workforce itself. Efforts of lead GEOINT agencies, such as the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), in the fields of exploitation of imagery and remotely sensed data have yielded exceptional results. Growing this base-layer of intelligence has become a top priority for the intelligence community at-large.

To this end, agencies from across the IC, DoD and Government have embraced open-source imagery and data as an invaluable asset. This shift is a relatively new and innovative approach; it has included using commercially-sourced as well as publically available imagery. Furthermore, these agencies are on the cutting edge with the utilization of artificial intelligence & deep learning as a means to obtain valuable insights from the large amounts of data that is being collected.

Through the exploitation of open-source intelligence (OSINT) data in particular, NGA has been closing gaps in its imagery coverage. This has largely been achieved through partnerships with companies that operate their own imaging satellites. Additionally, other agencies are building up their OSINT analysis capabilities in order to use this intelligence source to the greatest extent possible. In the internet age, this has proven to be a significant boost to our nation’s understanding of the intelligence landscape.

GEOINT and Open Source Analytics Summit

Defense Strategies Institute (DSI) seeks to foster a conversation that will expound upon solutions to common challenges faced by agencies and organization that use GEOINT data at the GEOINT & Open Source Analytics Summit. This summit, to be held September 19-20, 2017, will bring together attendees for two days of off-the-record discussion revolving around this year’s theme of “Leveraging New Collection Strategies to Enhance the Nation’s GEOINT Capability.”

The summit will offer over 16 sessions lead by diverse senior leadership speakers including:
