CGI awarded spot on $2.5 billion Navy CANES contract

CGI 112Fairfax, VA-based CGI Federal, a wholly owned U.S. operating subsidiary of CGI Group Inc., was awarded an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ), contract for delivery of management and enterprise IT services in a single, integrated network for U.S. Navy ships.  The contract allows CGI to compete for individual delivery orders over the fixed eight-year term.

CANES will deliver next generation integrated network support to the fleet using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and software, while consolidating five legacy networks into one.  It is designed to deliver standardization and increased interoperability across the fleet, with increased security.  CANES delivers its capabilities within a single complete system, establishing the necessary infrastructure that will enable timely information exchange among tactical, support and administrative users, applications and information technology platforms. The new system will  both increase operational effectiveness and improve the ‘on-board’ quality of life for Sailors.

“CGI brings a depth of real-world experience to CANES as a result of supporting Navy customers for decades,” said Timothy Hurlebaus, Senior Vice-President, CGI Federal. “We welcome the opportunity to deliver for the Navy on this visible, mission-critical program.”
