Alion awarded $24 million Navy contract to support virtual anti-submarine warfare training

Alion training Alion Science and Technology, a global engineering, technology and operational solutions company, has been awarded a $24 million contract by the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) to design, build and maintain Live, Virtual, Constructive Modeling and Simulation (LVCMS) Anti-Submarine Warfare Virtual At-Sea Training (ASW VAST) and simulation systems.

Alion will further develop and maintain existing ASW VAST training and simulation systems and will also design and develop new systems that utilize evolving LVC technologies. The systems are small footprint, easily deployable, computer-based trainers that support integrated and coordinated ASW tactical training, as well as Anti-Access Area-Denial and cyber warfare training.

“Under this five-year contract, Alion will continue to the deliver innovative training solutions as we did under the LVCMS ASW VAST’s predecessor contract, the Mission Rehearsal Tactical Team Trainer,” explained Terri Spoonhour, Alion senior vice president and distributed simulation group manager. “We are excited to assist the Navy in developing low-cost, high-fidelity training systems, solutions that are designed to support integrated training for both tactical and engineering personnel.”

Alion is an incumbent contractor and has been a principal developer and integrator of most of the ASW VAST family of systems since their inception.
