Air Force conducting market research for possible DCGS Enterprise IT Services acquisition

Air Force 112On December 23, the Air Force Materiel Command issued a notice seeking sources for a possible future contract for IT services in support of the Air Force’s distributed common ground system (DCGS):

AF DCGS is a worldwide network of fixed and transportable ground-based information processing systems employing net-centric capabilities to facilitate information sharing and collaboration.  Capabilities are available to support sensor tasking and the posting, processing, exploitation, and dissemination of electro-optical/infrared and synthetic aperture radar imagery and signals intelligence collected by manned and unmanned reconnaissance platforms.

The purpose of this market research is to support a possible future acquisition to eliminate IT services at remote sites and either migrate existing services or standup new services at the hubs.  The future capability would facilitate remote administration, management, monitoring, and early fault detection.  The AF DCGS runs on classified networks and any proposed IT services will need to be support this operational model.  Any proposed approach must consist of capabilities that are production ready.
