Academic grants available to study Measurement and Signature Intelligence (MASINT)

bioinformatics The U.S. Naval supply System Command is offering grants to U.S. universities, U.S. research institutions and laboratories outside the U.S. federal government to study emerging technologies within the field of Measurement and Signature Intelligence, or MASINT.

According to the announcement of this grants opportunity, published on Grants.Gov on February 24, the desired research should create new knowledge and enhance capabilities in the following areas:

  • Remote assessment of detection of weapons of mass destruction;
  • Remote assessment and detection of directed energy weapons;
  • Bioinformatics, collecting and analyzing complex biological data, such as genetic codes;
  • Telematics, the integrated use of telecommunications and informatics;

Applications for this grant opportunity will be accepted through September 30, 2014, says the online notice.
